One of the Lads: Women Who Follow Football

// Anne Coddington

From the Egyptian goddess Sekhmet to the Maori Wai-nui and the Navajo Changing Bear Maiden, this unique and inclusive collection takes a fresh, gender-conscious look at myth, folk tale and legend from across the globe.

Divided into sections – the Near East, Europe, Asia, Oceania and America – each part outlines the mythological system of a particular culture, and then goes on to look at female mythic figures and their symbolic meanings, both within the mythic context and the culture as a whole. The result is a wonderfully diverse and insightful companion to the stories which have shaped our modern world.
