We are a theatre company powered by punk values of honesty, integrity, inclusion and the spirit of Do It Yourself invention; exploring issues of popular culture, politics, spirituality, responsibility, injustice and respect. The Future Is Unwritten (TFIU) was founded in 2009 by Brighton based writer and director Paul Hodson.

Since then we have developed Thirteen (a commission from Brighton International Festival), toured Fringe First winning Meeting Joe Strummer to 20 UK venues, created and toured new plays Don’t Shoot The Clowns and Way Out West and re-toured Fever Pitch around the UK. We also remounted Brighton ‘Til I Die at Brighton’s Theatre Royal to celebrate the opening of Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club’s new stadium. In 2014 we made and toured England Away around the UK. England Away is a comedy about passion, patriotism and ‘Englishness’ – what is it? What was it and what it will be? And will the England team ever win anything ever again?

In 2016-2017 we made and toned Still about privacy, both internet and personal. It told the story of (the real) photographer Vivian Maier and (fictional) hacker H, who stole people’s information during the course of the show.

TFIU is a not for profit organisation and is funded on a project by project basis.
